Ohio hosts both commercial and studio competitions and ballroom and DanceSport events. About 99% of events (148) are commercial and studio competitions. About 1% of events (2) are ballroom and DanceSport competitions. Notable competition brands include Nexstar National Talent Competition, Encore Talent Productions, Energy National Dance Competitions, and Applause Talent.

Dance competitions in Ohio are spread across 41 cities. The most active cities are Columbus (19 events), Youngstown (17 events), Dayton (14 events), Cleveland (13 events), Cincinnati (10 events), Akron (10 events), and Sandusky (8 events). 34 additional cities each host at least one event throughout the season.
